Introduction

The British Algerian Society, by way of acting upon our UK-DZ framework, is pleased to announce the release of the first article, which will occur on the 1st Sunday of each month. Our blog follows the 4 pillars of the UK–DZ Framework, with each quarter of the year:

  • Jan-Mar| Understanding: Exploring culture, heritage, history, identity through relationships between Britain and Algeria.

  • Apr–Jun | Knowledge: Sharing education, research, ideas and opportunities

  • Jul–Sep| Development: Exploring economics, entrepreneurship, business, investment and professional opportunities.

  • Oct–Dec | Ziyara (Visit/Travel): Exploring travel, tourism, cultural exchange and the experience of discovering Britain and Algeria.

Why monthly blogs?

Our commitment to connecting the UK and Algeria, which is exactly the purpose of our monthly blogs. By discussing topics relevant to Algeria and Algerian traditions, we can educate audiences in the UK, encouraging further engagement with Algerian businesses, institutions and opportunities. Hence why the publication of our articles is intrinsic in bringing our framework to life. However, the importance of these articles lies not only in the narratives they tell, but also in who tells them.

How can you get involved?

In addition to our purpose being to educate, we also believe in uplifting the talent of the diaspora in the UK. This is why BAS will provide people with a platform to showcase their creativity and writing skills through article competitions taking place throughout the year based on the pillar focus of the month. These competitions will allow us to accumulate an abundance of perspectives from those interested in developing the link between Algeria and the UK, granting them a space to be represented and heard.
